I have noticed that some websites that offer free products (in this case software) through the mail charge a s/h fee which is understandable but sometimes, even though not a single penny is being paid for the "product" and just for s/h... Is there an opensource software like quickbase based on PHP and Mysql? Im looking for a customizeable form based databse that is web based. I want to host it myself. and i want it to be free. It would be nice if it had its own built in interface to authorize.net to charge a customer. I looked into quickbase but its too expensive and not quite what im looking for. I run a computer repair company and i want this php app to be able to generate an invoice, log phone calls, and charge the customers credit card. where can I get a free copy of Microsoft works 2004 or better for windows xp? I had to replace the motherboard, memory, and floppy in my dell computer recently. It required a complete reformat... which would not have been so bad if dell had sent me disk for ALL my original software. Sadly that disk was missing and when I called to ask them to send it to me, they said it was obsolete and there was no way to get it to me. My business invoices were all in that format and now I can't access them! I have tried to see if they were compatible with similar programs and they just aren't. HELP! Do you also think that Google Home Biz is a scam? So...I can't believe that I fell in this trap but I did...so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older...so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you $1 for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the $1 then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them...and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway...right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. Consumer rights: Do you think I have any rights on this issue? False advertising? This is a pretty long one... I ordered some music software from a reputable company in England. The title of the package I ordered was "Ableton Live Suite 8 with FREE nanoKontrol" (nanoKontrol is a controller worth about £60). I noticed in my search of the store that there was also a package titled "Ableton Live Suite 8" for the same price but without the controller. So obviously, I went with the package with the free controller! Then, today I got an email saying that the Ableton Live Suite 7 package is discontinued and that I can select something else for the same value. I was confused as I hadn't ordered Ableton Live Suite 7, I had ordered 8. I looked at the webpage of the package I ordered and in the description under the product title it says in much smaller print "Buy Ableton Live Suite 7 and get a FREE nanoKontrol and upgrade to Ableton Live Suite 8 for free". It also says that the item is "In Stock". Surely if they are selliing something labeled "Ableton Live Suite 8 with FREE nanoKontrol" and I pay the price they are asking AND the product is labeled "In Stock" (and it still is labeled that) then I should get what I paid for??? Even in the order confirmation email it says: Order No. ***** Order Confirmed Ableton Live Suite 8 with FREE nanoKontrol £479.99 Confirming what I believed I was paying for... Do you think they should send me the package as shown in the invoice/ order confirmation? They may have to send me Ableton Live Suite 8 and the nanoKontrol as seperate packages instead of all in one box offer, which would put them at a slight loss. Do you think I have any rights on this issue? I think it might just be a website mistake but it is their job to keep things up to date. It's kindof false advertisement, or at least deceptive advertisement. I didn't read the description because I trusted the title and assumed the product would be what it said as I had read a lot about it already and know exactly what Ableton Live suite 8 contains. The nanoKontrol was just the icing on the cake. I know some of you might say "you should have read the small print" but I trusted this company (still do for some reason) and I presumed that, when I do a search for a product, and the product shows up with the exact title I am looking for and I hit "Add to basket" and pay for it then that it is the product it say's it is... Sorry about this rant but I hate when something gets taken away from you, especially when it's hard to get anything free these days!! :P Let me know your thoughts and what you would do.

i want billing software where i can creat client quotation,invoice and payment of client, free version?

I started a new job through a temp agency, they like me except complained that I didn't know excel,? They wanted someone who knows advanced accounting formulas. I've taken a class in college (about 4 years ago) on the Microsoft Suite. I learned basic adding formulas, how to make charts, etc I've taken tests through staffing agencies that said that I was about average on excel. My boss also told the temp agency that I didn't know how to use word also. Yet I have never sent him a word doc. I've tested high in word, I have been using word since middle school, and I have a degree in Graphic Design, so I am comfortable using word, and it's basic features. I know that I am not a super admin pro at it that knows every little feature on it, plus for me I have higher advanced program knowledge of professional desktop software, so I use that. Unless I am just typing a plain letter or so. but I know how to adjust margins, word count, put on page numbers, turn into a web page.. etc anyways so now I'm afraid that they think that I misrepresented myself My resume never said anything about accounting. I've helped a small business, and myself as a freelancer keep track of invoices, payments, past dues, collections, and purchasing materials, but I have never used excel to keep track of sales, accounting etc. I have used excel to keep track of data, and have herd from past jobs that they really liked the way that I was able to create charts, and organize data in excel, and was very useful for the whole office to be on the same page. They want to do another test on on excel, (on my free time of course, which I have none with a family, freelance projects, etc) The temp agency gave me a tutorial. Most of it's pretty easy, except for in the end when it gets into advanced formulas. The tutorials doesn't really teach much except for steps to take. I need to know why, why did the makers of excel choose this program to be set up this way, what's the logic behind it,and I need to find some other advanced online places to learn these. I also am wondering if I should summon up my Transcripts from college to prove that I did take the course, and also to ask my old temp agency in my old town to dig up my testing records to send over. or would this be looked at as defensive behavior ? Why do they think that there advanced usage of excel is basic usage? I should add, that my background is Graphic Design, the job title is "Marketing Assistant", where my main role is doing graphics, flyers, brochures, catalogs, marketing campaigns, product photography, website updating and maintenance, the only excel docs I see are price sheets, which I import into Indesign ( easy) and some customer / distributors contact list. but they are asking for some pretty intense Graphic Design skills, and I don't know too many that have HR/accounting background and a Graphic Design background.

Free invoicing software? Can anyone recommend a free invoicing system that is easy to use and doesn't have a trial period. I downloaded one from NCH website that was extremely easy and effective but I wasn't aware at the time that it was a free trial period and so now that the trial has finished I can't access the information already there. Bit of a pain!!

Which is a good software available in the market (licensed or free) for converting PDFs into excel data? I am looking for softwares which can be used to convert PDF or scanned images in PDF formats into excel sheet formats.
